Details and Pricing released for the All-new Ford Transit Custom

Ford has announced pricing and specification details for the new Transit Custom intermediate utility and passenger range. The all-new Ford Transit Custom delivers the best load-carrying ability in its class. The key word and best way to describe it is "more",  with more space, more convenience and more innovative new features and not only are they a more stylish transit than before, but also offer more functionality. Ford designers and engineers gave maximum priority to combining the largest possible load box within the Transit Custom’s streamlined dynamic appearance during the development process. Particular attention was given to the detailed design of the bulkhead and bodysides to optimise the size and practicality of the load space. The new Transit Custom has also been subjected to Ford’s ultra-stringent Commercial Vehicle testing and durability standards and offers customers the safest Transit ever. Over 40 per cent of the body is made from high-strength or ultra-high-strength steels while extensive underbody protection means it comes with a 12-year anti-perforation warranty as standard.

The Transit Custom is a completely new kind of Transit, with a new design direction and a host of advanced features,” said Paul Campbell, CV chief designer, Ford of Europe. “This is a stylish, modern van which customers will be proud to have on their driveway, while losing none of the hard-working attitude that they expect from a Transit.”

The following body types are available:

• Panel van


• Double-cab-in-van (DCIV) six seater


• Kombi nine seater (eight seats optional)


• Tourneo minibus eight seater (nine seats optional)

Engines/transmission:

• 2.2 litre 16v turbo-diesel unit developing 74 kW/100 PS, maximum torque of 310 Nm and mated to a six-speed manual transmission driving the front wheels


• 2.2 litre 16v turbo-diesel unit developing 92 kW/125 PS, maximum torque of 350 Nm and mated to a six-speed manual transmission driving the front wheels


• 2.2 litre 16v turbo-diesel unit developing 114 kW/155 PS, maximum torque of 385 Nm and mated to a six-speed manual transmission driving the front wheels

 

Loading capacities:

Short wheelbase cargo van: - load capacity: 5,950 litres (SAE)

Long wheelbase cargo van: - load capacity: 6,830 litres (SAE)

Payload from 683 kg to 1,484 kg (depending on gross vehicle weight).

The design of the load box was carefully optimised using detailed CAD models of the load area, and of the items – such as ladders or storage boxes – typically transported by tradesman and professionals, to ensure practicality and convenience in everyday use.
