Another big debut having already made its way to the IAA Frankfurt show this year is the new compact SUV concept model, the iV-4 from Suzuki. The “i” stands for “individuality”, “V” for “vehicle”, and “4”is for “4 wheel-drive”. This model, set to take on the Nissan Juke, Renault Captur and others in this segment, will soon join the Suzuki SUV line-up which began with the LJ series in 1970 and has since expanded with the Vitara in 1988, Jimny in 1998, and Grand Vitara in 2005. The latest press release from Suzuki defines the concept for the iV-4 with the slogan/theme, "Grab your field", which refers to its powerful, tough and rugged SUV ability and in so, empowering whomever is behind the wheel. It will also be light weight and boast one of the lowest CO2 ratings in its class. ŠKODA has just announced that they are launching a special edition of its highly acclaimed Yeti compact SUV. Chevrole t has just released more details on its first entry into the small SUV segment, the Trax . It is set to launch later this year. Chevrolet say Trax gives buyers many of the benefits of a full-blooded SUV while combining the driving dynamics and fuel economy of a smaller car. The Trax was first unveiled at the 2012 Paris Auto Show and later in 2013 at the North American International Auto Show. What will this small SUV offer in the way of space then?  It stands at 4.2m long, 1.7 m wide and 1.6 m high, 356-litre boot and you can fold 40/60 rear seat flat for a loading space that can be extended to accommodate a maximum of 1370L, with further space available under the cargo floor, plus a roof load capacity of 75 kg and can tow trailers weighing up to 1200kg. Today is the exciting opening of the Geneva Motor Show for media representatives. Press days are March 5-6, 2013 before the show officially opens to the public on March 7th. In a new press release Fiat are promoting the arrival of their new third generation Panda 4x4, which will be available purchase to this month. The latest Fiat Panda 4x4 with an all-wheel drive system is successor to the previous best-seller that first appeared over 29 years ago. Fiat say, " it’s a smart solution for drivers who want city car features without trading the passenger room and comfort of a five-door, or the go-anywhere ability of a full SUV." Suzuki GB PLC has just announced some styling refreshments to its highly popular Jimny compact 4x4 model. The 2013 model is to receive a number of exterior and interior design updates to help modernise its appearance. Don't worry though, Suzuki say it will still maintain the long established tough and capable reputation Jimny has amongst its 20,000 loyal owners in the UK. Design revisions include a new front bumper and grille design, new design bonnet shape incorporating central air intake as well as repositioning of the front fog lamps. The new front bumper design has resulted in a slight increase in overall length of 30mm to 3,675mm – although Jimny will remain the most compact SUV on sale currently in the UK. Chevrolet UK has happily announced in a new press release, that the Caravan Club has named the  Captiva as 2013 Best Tow Car in its weight category. The Captiva is Chevrolet's compact SUV and was given a full makeover in 2011, including a fresh exterior design, giving it a more confident and dynamic presence; an all-new range of the latest powerful and fuel efficient engines; chassis modifications to improve ride and handling and an upgraded interior.   Chevrolet has introduced their latest SUV called the Chevrolet Trax. Here are some of the details about this new SUV that were offered this week via Chevrolet media's press release. This SUV will be Chevrolet’s first entry to the fast growing small SUV segment. Trax will round out Chevrolet’s offer of stylish SUVs alongside Captiva and the 7-seat Chevrolet Orlando. Measuring 4,248 mm in length, and featuring a width of 1,776 mm and a wheelbase of 2,555 mm, Chevrolet’s new small SUV sports powerful body lines that convey agility and movement.
