Serene swan or quacking duck?

Most of us have witnessed some form of road rage when calmly making our way from A to B. My personal favourite is when someone beeps loudly because you haven’t left the traffic lights at the macro second the little man turns green. Patience is a virtue dear. As you may be concluding, I consider myself a considerate driver; a serene swan like presence on busy roads full of quacking ducks. But I recently had to put that to the test when I heard about a new ‘Driver Emotion Test’ that is now available. For the first time ever, there is a way of measuring how emotionally intelligent we are behind the wheel. Designed in partnership between Hyundai and behavioural psychologist Patrick Fagan from Goldsmiths University in London, it’s an in-car test that looks at how we respond to the stimulus around us while driving – it uses facial coding technology, eye tracking analysis and a heart rate monitor to better understand our emotions. The point (in case you’re wondering) is so that the more aware...

Hyundai unveils vision of future mobility, the Intrado

Image
Hyundai Motors has unveiled its new concept car, Intrado , for the first time at the 2014 Geneva Motor Show. So what exactly is an Intrado? Hyundai says the new concept vehicle “ is a daring concept that shows Hyundai’s vision for future mobility ”. Hmm, that statement doesn’t quite give enough away, but upon further reading of Hyundai’s latest press release, the Intrado is a two-door Korean SUV that will meet our future mobility needs by way of advanced vehicle technologies and intelligent design working in harmony to better engage with not only the driver, but with passengers as well. Nope, still not sure what the vehicle is all about yet. Ok, perhaps Allan Rushforth, Senior Vice President and Chief Operating Officer at Hyundai Motor Europe can shed more light. He says: “ Hyundai Motor’s vision is ‘lifetime partner in automobiles’, and Intrado truly embodies this thinking. We have looked to the future and the roles cars will play in our daily lives. Intrado is also a demonstration ...

High cost of motoring keeping us from Sunday roast says Hyundai

Are we in danger of losing our Sunday roasts? Well according to Hyundai’s research, we just may be. Their latest press release announces that after looking into the cost of motoring and its effects on driver habits, some of us, are foregoing family get-togethers due to the rising costs associated with driving. According to Hyundai; "Most under threat is the traditional Sunday Roast, with 6 in 10 families saying that they have missed out on the occasion. And it's parents who are losing out on family get-togethers the most - with 30% of Brits saying they simply cannot afford to visit mum and dad." The high cost of petrol is being blamed for this, as motorists have seen a massive 53% rise in petrol costs in just the last five years with average prices going from 87.9p to 134.1p per litre. More and more of us are delaying or scrapping visits to family altogether if they live more than 150 miles away, reveals Hyundai's research. Surprisingly noted was that 35% said that t...
