UK Luton van plant honoured with quality control award

Image
Congratulations are in order for the UK’s most productive van manufacturing facility. Vauxhall’s Luton van plant is the first in Europe to achieve a top manufacturing benchmark. The honour of receiving a “Built in Quality” (BIQ) Level 4 award was given to the plant in recognition of its world class quality control standards. Luton is one of only three sites to beat the competition, which saw 396 General Motors facilities worldwide vying for the award. It’s fantastic to see a British based van manufacturer receive such an honour, especially as the award is for quality control standards and that should help to boost consumer confidence in the purchase or hire of a Vauxhall branded van . Vauxhall has recently been investing in the plant and has already upgraded parts of body shop as they begin gearing up for the production of Vauxhall’s latest Vivaro van coming later this year. They have been the UK’s number one manufacturer for the last twelve years, building over 44,000 vans in the UK j...

Limited edition Vauxhall Adams get smartphone design

Image
The fashion forward Adam , which was Vauxhall ’s urban styled answer to the mini or Fiat 500, is now available with more levels of personalisation and in an even more eye-catching design. The stylish small car that boasts a myriad of customisation options, upmarket cabin, and good-value pricing is now being offered in a new limited edition model, aimed at those who have an affinity to their smartphones. Vauxhall have recently announced the arrival of a limited edition to the urban chic city car. The ADAM Black Edition and ADAM White Edition take their design cues from a smartphone. Think smartphone looks in black or white, with accents in brushed aluminium effect. For those that need to stay connected, the new ADAM Black Edition and ADAM White Edition come with Vauxhall’s IntelliLink infotainment system and Siri Eyes Free voice control fitted as standard. And if that wasn’t enough for true smartphone aficionados, Vauxhall say, “ ADAM drivers who have an iOS 6 – or later – compatible iP...

Vauxhall is UK's number one van maker for 12th year running

Image
It was a pretty good year in 2013 for van manufacturers, but according to figures from the Society of Motor Manufacturers and Traders (SMMT), it was an amazingly good year for Vauxhall . The van maker built over 44,000 vans in the UK last year, making it Britain’s number one van maker for the 12th year running (based on the SMMT figures). The Luton van factory manufactured an impressive 44,657 Vivaro vans as UK Vivaro van sales were up 34% year-on-year. The production line hasn’t slowed down yet, as the factory is currently ramping up to build the new Vivaro which goes on sale later this year. Commenting on the upcoming van and newly upgraded Luton van factory, in their recent press release Vauxhall have said, “ Over 40 per cent of content for the new vehicle will be sourced locally. The plant and associated agencies directly employ over 1,200 people in the Luton area, and is a significant contributor to the local and wider UK economies ”. Did you know that Vauxhall celebrated 110 year...

Vauxhall gives away a luxury prize pairing - some wine and a van

In a recent press release , Vauxhall Commercial Vehicles announced the winners of a pretty generous give away. The fortunate winner of the competition, which was also in collaboration with Gallo Family Vineyards, got to drive away with the perfect prize combo . The promotion was a marriage made in heaven for those like me, who enjoy both wine and vans (umm, just not at the same time of course ). The prize included a Combo van , loaded with six cases of Gallo Family Vineyard wine. The prize was part of Gallo Family Vineyards’ promotion to support sales and distribution in independent retailers of the Gallo Family Vineyards rosé range, one of  the nation’s favourite USA rosé brand. Unfortunately for me, I wasn’t eligible to enter (or believe you me, I would have), as the competition was aimed at independent retailers who entered the competition by purchasing three cases of Gallo Family Vineyards rosé wine (White Grenache, White Zinfandel or Merlot Rosé) at their local cash and carry an...

Sales to small businesses of compact Vauxhall Corsavans increase

Image
So what do you do when you need a smaller more economical van that can, not only drive (and look) like a car, but also offers enough load space, manageable fuel economy, low running costs, and comfortable city driving? Perhaps like other small businesses, you might consider getting the Vauxhall Corsavan. Vauxhall have recently announced that sales of their car-derived van, with its coupé-like appearance, have increased by nearly a quarter compared to last year. Small businesses are buying more of these compact city vans and Vauxhall reported that the large increase in sales to this group of buyers has gone up by more than 70 per cent year-on-year. The Luton automaker says that one of the reasons for the increase in sales of Corsavan is its impressive fuel economy of up to 83.1mpg on the combined cycle and CO 2 emissions as low as 89g/km - lower than many of the cleanest cars on the market. Another way van operators are saving money is on insurance, with all Corsavan models falling int...

Image
Wow, imagine winning a brand new white Vauxhall Combo ecoFLEX 1.3CDTi (90PS) van with Start/Stop by simply entering a prize draw at your local B&Q.  Well, one lucky man doesn't have to dream about that possible scenario any longer. Lucky winner Stuart Weir from Peterhead in Aberdeen won the Combo as part of a promotional campaign event that took place  at 58 B&Q stores throughout the UK.  Mr. Weir entered the prize draw during the event at the B&Q Aberdeen store where local Vauxhall retailer Peter Vardy was displaying the full range of Vauxhall Commercial Vehicles, including a new Combo similar to the one Stuart has won. Stuart said: “I’m absolutely delighted to have won new Vauxhall Combo and will make very good use of its versatility and capability.” Vauxhall's carbon footprint reducing Combo ecoFlex models are a smart choice for any business. Registered Vauxhall Combo, Vivaro, and Movano models move to two year service intervals

Image
Vauxhall has announced that from March all Combo, Vivaro and Movano models registered will move to two year service intervals. Combo’s service interval will be two years or 21,000 miles (18,000 miles for petrol variants) or oil life quality monitor warning, whichever is sooner. The Movano and British-built Vivaro will be two years or 25,000 miles or oil life quality monitor warning, whichever is sooner. “Depending on mileage, the savings in service maintenance and repair across a large mixed fleet could be significant,” said Richard Collier, Vauxhall’s National Commercial Vehicle and B2B Sales Manager.   If you’re looking for even more fuel savings, Vauxhall are also promoting their green ecoFLEX range, in which they were the first manufacturer to introduce an eco-model across each van in its range when it launched ecoFLEX commercial vehicles back in 2011. Vauxhall claim the Movano ecoFLEX achieves a combined fuel economy of 37.2mpg and CO 2 emissions of 199g/km, a 5 per cent redu...

First Vauxhall ADAM rolls off production line

Image
Vauxhall proudly announced yesterday that the first ADAM rolled off Eisenach production line. Steve Girsky, GM’s Vice Chairman and GM Europe’s President, declared that the first ADAM off the line marked a ‘new era’ for Vauxhall/Opel. The first ADAM was driven off the line at Opel/Vauxhall’s Thuringia factory by Steve Girsky, accompanied by 2009 European Athletics Indoor Champion, Ariane Friedrich. This supermini has been billed as the most flexible car in its class, with 61,000 exterior variations and 82,000 different ways to ‘design’ the interior. Its appeal seems to be aimed towards the youthful urban market, but should also attract those looking for an affordable economical small car with its combined fuel consumption and CO 2 as low as 56.5mpg and 118g/km. Vauxhall's clever marketing team have characterised the likely buyers of ADAM as "fashion conscious and place great value on individuality; they don’t just follow trends, they create them.” Does that describe you? Vauxhall holds on to top retail spot by selling impressive number of vans in 2012

Image
Vauxhall Commercial Vehicles have declared that they sold more vans to retail customers than any other manufacturer for the second consecutive year, according to figures released recently by the Society of Motor Manufacturers and Traders. In a press release posted on Monday, the Luton-based manufacturer shared their impressive sales figures despite the SMMT reporting that commercial vehicle registrations were down 5.9% in 2012 and van registrations down 7.9% for the January-December period. Vauxhall Commercial Vehicles managed to sell over 11,000 vehicles to small businesses while accumulating a 16.11% per cent market share, topping the monthly retail sales charts in March, April, September and December. The company who say they have built over 50,000 vans in 2012 also reported that the British-built Vivaro topped the medium van segment for the second year running. “We are delighted to retain the market leading position for the second year in a row,” said Richard Collier, Vauxhall’s Na...

Vauxhall shows Santa how to go green this Christmas

Image
Vauxhall has recently issued a rather humorous tongue-in-cheek (I hope) press release in which they suggest that Santa should consider replacing his reindeer driven sleigh in favour of a Vauxhall Vivaro ecoFLEX van. The post was a clever way to advertise the benefits of owning one of their Luton-built vans. You can read the funny Vauxhall press release below.   Santa ditches flatulent reindeer for efficient Luton-built Vivaro van Vauxhall is showing Santa how to go green this Christmas and slash his CO 2 emissions by trading his sleigh for a Vivaro ecoFLEX van. Estimates suggest the famous team of fully-grown reindeer pulling his sleigh emits a colossal 53,667 tonnes of CO 2 * during his annual 195,200,000km trip around the world, which works out at 275g/km. The journey also requires an enormous quantity of milk and carrots. The Vivaro ecoFLEX, which is built in Britain, offers CO 2 emissions of 174g/km, meaning Santa would emit 33,965 tonnes of carbon dioxide – cutting his curre...
