1,120 Volkswagen vans added to Sky fleet

Image
Volkswagen Commercial Vehicles has proudly announced that they will be supporting one of the UK’s largest pay-tv broadcasters, Sky, by supplying an additional 1,120 vehicles to the existing Sky fleet. The deal will most certainly be welcomed, as Sky has over 10 million television and broadband customers and that can equate to thousands of engineers out on call in any given day. The partnership is to include delivery of 930 Caddy Maxi Startline BlueMotion Technology (BMT) and 190 Transporter Startline BMT vehicles later this month. The vans are fitted with roof racking and will display Sky’s colourful and effective signing. I see dozens of Sky vehicles on the road nearly every day in my neck of the woods and the Volkswagen vans will make a great eye catching addition. I don't mind being stuck behind one of Sky's vans in traffic; the graphics on some of them are so bold and bright that it's akin to watching an HD advert while I wait. The Caddy van was a good choice for, ...

Do you remember watching the episode of Top Gear where Sabine Schmitz set the world famous commercial vehicle lap at Nürburgring of 10 minutes and 8 seconds in a Ford Transit van? That was amazing. Will we see a new large van from a Daimler and Renault partnership soon?

Another exciting collaboration may be in the cards for Renault. Hot on the heels of the Renault Kangoo and Mercedes-Benz Citan partnership, Daimler and Renault are now holding talks towards teaming up to build a large van together. I stumbled across this latest news in an article posted on the website, Carscoop . You can read the full article titled, "Daimler in Talks with Renault to Build Large Van Together " written by Dan Mihalascu by clicking here . According to the post, Daimler's contract with VW will run its course and end after 2016. Mercedes-Benz Sprinter shares its newest infrastructure with VW’s Crafter van, but VW will continue making the Crafter vans by themselves going forward. With the Crafter van currently being built at a Mercedes-Benz plant along with the Sprinter, things could be very interesting indeed once the partnership is over. For those that require some serious load space with smooth manoeuvrability and comfort, then a large van is the way to go....

VW Caddy report compiles common business errors made by ambitous enterprise owners

Image
According to a new study published by Volkswagen today, taking a chance on hiring someone who ultimately turned out to not be right for the job was named as British bosses’ most common business mistake. It suggests that a third of small and medium sized enterprise (SME) owners would describe themselves as ambitious risk-takers, but it’s important to remember that with all risk-taking having a downside as well as an upside. The Volkswagen Caddy ‘However Big Your Ambition’ report, commissioned to understand the common mistakes business owners regularly make, and to help prevent bosses from continuing to make costly blunders, revealed that mistakes and bad decisions cost UK businesses an average of £2,340 every year. To help SMEs develop their business skills, Volkswagen Commercial Vehicles has launched an online mentoring service on its Facebook page featuring successful SME owners sharing advice. Image
Is this really the delivery van of the future? Imagine yourself being able to load more, thus enabling you to increase deliveries/business from the comfort and style of a zero emissions Transporter van. Well, you nearly can. Volkswagen Commercial Vehicles will be showing a transporter concept vehicle: the e-Co-Motion at the Geneva Motor Show this week. Per the latest Volkswagen press release, this compact electric drive system van, with its large cargo capacity can handle up to 800 kilograms of payload and still manoeuvre with ease. So how is it that the e-Co-Motion makes for a great delivery van option? Volkswagen say they achieved this by clear partitioning of the vehicle body into a lower driving-relevant zone containing an under floor drive unit, battery and gearbox; and an upper superstructure that is relevant to delivery tasks. Therefore, this makes maximum use of space, creating ideal customer solutions and various body versions.  A low cargo floor height and large cargo capacit...
