New VW Caddy BlueMotion set to sparkle at IAA Frankfurt Motor Show 2013

Volkswagen Commercial Vehicles has recently released new details for the VW Caddy. It will now be available in a number of different versions; such as a passenger carrier or panel van, and different engine options. The exciting news coming from Volkswagen’s latest press release is that the Caddy will soon be welcoming a new fuel-efficient version to the range: the new Caddy BlueMotion is the most fuel-efficient Caddy ever with a low fuel consumption of 4.5 litres per 100 km (62.8 mpg). This show stopping version will be available with a short wheelbase and come in four equipment versions such as a panel van and kombi; as well as in passenger-carrying versions too.

What can we expect when the new Caddy comes onto the market? Volkswagen say, “At the heart of the new Caddy BlueMotion is the familiar 1.6-litre TDI with common rail direct injection and 75 kW / 102 PS which has a maximum torque of 250 Newton metres.” How does that compare to the old Caddy? With new BlueMotion Technology, the consumption of fuel is further reduced by 0.5 litres per 100 km, allowing the urban delivery commercial version to consume just 4.5 litres per 100 km.

Volkswagen Commercial Vehicles are revealing their secrets to the Caddy’s  low fuel consumption values  by stating how combining aerodynamics and engineering measures like an engine stop-start function, low rolling resistance tyres, recovery of braking energy (battery regeneration), ride height lowered by 27 mm and efficient engine control,  have made it all possible.

Plus there is an added bonus as Volkswagen says, “Thanks to its 60 litre fuel tank, the Caddy BlueMotion therefore has a theoretical range of over 1,300 km (over 800 miles).”

The Caddy BlueMotion looks set to shine bright at the IAA Frankfurt show when it opens to the public on Saturday, 14 September - Sunday, 22 September 2013.
