Vauxhall shows Santa how to go green this Christmas

Vauxhall has recently issued a rather humorous tongue-in-cheek (I hope) press release in which they suggest that Santa should consider replacing his reindeer driven sleigh in favour of a Vauxhall Vivaro ecoFLEX van. The post was a clever way to advertise the benefits of owning one of their Luton-built vans. You can read the funny Vauxhall press release below.

Santa ditches flatulent reindeer for efficient Luton-built Vivaro van

Vauxhall is showing Santa how to go green this Christmas and slash his CO2 emissions by trading his sleigh for a Vivaro ecoFLEX van.

Estimates suggest the famous team of fully-grown reindeer pulling his sleigh emits a colossal 53,667 tonnes of CO2* during his annual 195,200,000km trip around the world, which works out at 275g/km. The journey also requires an enormous quantity of milk and carrots.
The Vivaro ecoFLEX, which is built in Britain, offers CO2 emissions of 174g/km, meaning Santa would emit 33,965 tonnes of carbon dioxide – cutting his current emissions by 37 per cent.
Vauxhall is offering Santa the chance to get behind the wheel of its Vivaro 2.0CDTI 2700 with competitive leasing rates starting from just £199.99 per month excluding VAT. The van also has a pulling power of 115PS, far greater than that of eight reindeer.
While little is known about Santa's existing sleigh, estimates suggest it is similar in size to the Vivaro, which boasts a loading area of 5.3 cubic metres.

"The Vivaro offers Santa lower emissions and higher power and torque than his current team of antlered sleigh-pullers,” said a source close to Santa. “Its loading area is comparable and, perhaps most importantly, it's available in red!"
The Vivaro ecoFLEX proved its environmental credentials in this year's ALD Automotive / Shell FuelSave MPG Marathon, achieving fuel economy in excess of 65mpg, which gave it the best percentage improvement of any vehicle.

Building over 70,000 vehicles alone last year at its plants in Luton and Ellesmere Port, Vauxhall is the UK’s largest manufacturer of commercial vehicles.

I think Santa looks rather nice behind the wheel of a Vivaro ecoFLEX van, but somehow I just don't see him giving up on Rudolph and his mates anytime soon.
