New motor expo in Cheltenham September 8th and 9th, 2012

The Qualcomm Halo Sustainable Moto Expo 2012 on September 8th and 9th is being billed as, "the world’s first ever low-carbon street race, highlighting Gloucestershire as an exemplar region for business growth, through a sustainable low-carbon economy". The project was conceived by The Rotary Club of Cheltenham North, who’s Trustees hold the majority of the Company's shares, ensuring that profits from the trading of the Company are used for charitable purposes and prescribed by the Rotary Club. It aims to introduce the latest advances in sustainable motor sports and transport, as well as future low carbon possibilities. The expo is a fantastic opportunity to focus on young engineers of the future, giving them the chance to showcase their imagination and talents in the automotive and motorsports sectors. The Greenpower Trust, which promotes educational engineering projects in 500 schools across the UK, will present low-carbon race cars that have been designed by teams from local schools such as Chosen Hill and St Edward’s and is one of the event’s key education partners in the Education Zone. This zone will be revealing how to build electric cars through interactive master classes run by the University of Oxford and Oxford Brookes University. To help promote innovation projects, members of the Energy and Power Group at the University of Oxford will showcase their super-sleek electric vehicle PEGGIE. Cheltenham’s Inner Promenade will be turned into a futuristic car showroom as a range of low-carbon vehicles built by teams from Renishaw, Jaguar Land Rover and Infineon give the public a taste of things to come.
