How to start your own van courier business

I recently read a really great article on Small Business Pro website that provides quality information on how to start your own van courier business. If you have ever considered working for yourself, but are just not sure how or where to start, then you may find the article extremely helpful. Basically, for this type of business, you don't need to buy stock to sell or rent an expensive space. You and your van are the business. What you do need, is to determine exactly who your clients are likely to be and what services you are able to supply. Do you need to start from scratch and purchase a van? If so, make sure to do your homework to find the right size/model of van to fit your business needs and it is extremely important to weigh up your options when you consider whether you will be able to buy the van outright or lease it on finance. If you already own a van, is it fit for the type of business you are wanting to set up and do you require any special licensing, insurance, or additional equipment? Will you start small as a one man band or will you need to recruit additional vans and drivers? There are so many things to consider, but this should not deter you from compiling a simple business plan to map out your ideas and check if they are viable. You may find that you make several changes to the original plan during your research, but that's fine. The more you prepare for and define what it is you and your business can realistically achieve, the more successful your business can be.

The article provides advice on how to set up your own courier van service and mentions opportunities about working as a delivery driver for some major established companies that outsource parcel pick-ups and/or deliveries.
