New engines and options for BMW series

BMW has just published a new press release announcing that they will be offering new engines and options across its 1 Series and 3 Series ranges.

BMW 1 Series

The BMW 1 Series will now offer the BMW 114d, a 1.6-litre version of the four-cylinder diesel engine with TwinPower Turbo technology, has a maximum output of 95hp with a peak torque of 235Nm and accelerates from zero to 62mph in just 12.2 seconds, going onto a top speed of 115mph. The new BMW 114d is available to order now on both the 3-door and 5-door variants. Prices for the BMW 114d are to be revealed at a later date.

BMW 3 Series Saloon

The BMW 3 Series Saloon will be available with a more efficient petrol engine to date, the BMW 320i EfficientDynamics, a 1.6-litre TwinPower Turbo petrol engine, which generates 170hp and 250Nm of torque, yet delivers 53.3mpg and emits just 124g/km CO₂. It also has a new entry point into ownership with the introduction of the 316i; a 1.6-litre four-cylinder petrol engine with TwinPower Turbo technology, the 316i produces just 134g/km CO₂ whilst returning 47.9mpg. The 316i Saloon will be priced from £22,850 OTR for the 316i ES Saloon and the BMW 320d EfficientDynamics Saloon will be priced from £25,730 OTR.

BMW 3 Series Touring

Even more is being offered when the BMW 3 Series Touring is released on September 22nd, as BMW plans to add three more engine types - the 320i, 318d and 316d, increasing the range to two petrol and four diesel engines. With the launch of the Touring, BMW will also now offer a new generation of its Professional Navigation system which can pair two mobile phones via Bluetooth and Message Dictation function that employs a full speech recognition system, allowing the driver to verbally dictate a message which is turned into text that can then be sent as an SMS or email. This high tech 3D modified display and control system will offer extra Navigation, Office and Multimedia functions and is also available on the BMW 3 Series Saloon models come November 2012. This Professional Media Package will be priced from £1,995 and also includes full black panel display, BMW Assist, enhanced Bluetooth telephone functionality with Telematics and USB Audio Interface.
