IAM Drive & Survive advises drivers on driving in the dark

It's that time of the week again, when Driver training specialist IAM Drive & Survive release their weekly driving tips. This week they are offering motoring tips to drivers from its head of training, Simon Elstow. With the clock changes soon approaching, he advises drivers on driving in the dark. One good tip on the list is; to look beyond the lights to the left if an approaching car forgets to dip its lights. Be sure to visit the IAM website to read the full list of handy tips and advice on driving in the dark.

Elstow said: “The risk of fatal accidents increases in the dark as visibility is reduced.  Have regular eye examinations to ensure you are wearing glasses or contact lenses if you need to.”

To help drivers stay safe this winter, the IAM has launched its winter driving campaign which includes a dedicated website, with traffic updates, weather forecasts and tips on how to drive safely in winter. The website also covers winter fuel saving tips and advice on driving during the Christmas holidays. IAM have put together a rather helpful site, one I will be sure to visit a few times over the winter months.

Tips cover rain, snow, ice, fog and wind – everything you can expect during a typically unpredictable British winter. Take a look at the website before you travel by clicking here.
