"Public reject government road tolls plan"

Confused.com insurance has posted an article on their website outlining research results regarding the government plans to increase the number of UK roads which charge tolls. The post titled, "Public reject government road tolls plan", says a majority of motorists are not in support of such strategies and don't believe the introduction of tolls would have a significant impact on congestion. The information and figures are from a survey of 2,500 British drivers carried out by used car website Motors.co.uk.

Confused.com also includes quotes from those who are for the road charge policy and those who are against it. I think we could be heading down a slippery slope with this, as it could lead to larger pay-as-you-drive systems where we are charged even more for the privilege to drive on certain roads/motorways. Yes, we would like to see better road conditions and we understand the need to decrease congestion, but at a time when motorists feel squeezed to breaking point financially, it's easy to see why a high percentage of those surveyed reject the additional toll plans.
