Most Reliable Vans of 2012

VanQuoteDirect, a leading online commercial vehicle insurance website, has recently posted their picks for Most Reliable Vans of 2012. In the post titled, "Friday Five: Most Reliable Vans of 2012", the results are not surprising, although out of the five vans voted highest on their reliability scale, just three manufacturers took the top five spots. These were Volkswagen, Mercedes-Benz, and never far from a top ranked list last year, Ford. The post does go on to mention that if the list were to include a full top ten, then Renault, Vauxhall and Citroen would certainly be somewhere in amongst the listings. To read more about why they were chosen as the top five, please click on the post's title link above.

Ford has placed number one on several recent top ranking polls and awards in recent months from both local and international publications to motor shows in categories such as van of the year at the Hannover IAA Commercial Vehicle Show, best green van in the British Insurance Vehicle Security Awards (BIVSA), run by Thatcham, it's 1.0-litre EcoBoost engine has won a prestigious UK award from the Energy Saving Trust (EST), plus many more achievements. So it was no real upset to see that the Ford Transit found its way to the number one spot on VanQuoteDirect’s 'Friday Five' list.

Last year saw a varied mix of vans and concepts introduced. There is no one size fits all van available at the moment, as everyone’s needs are as varied as the vans on the market, When price is an issue, my vote for last year's top vans, as far as being the cheapest at under £10,000 for basic models were; the Vauxhall Combo van, the Renault Kangoo van, and rounding out my top three is the Citroen Nemo van. All of these vans offer economical practicality, manoeuvrability, as well as ample load space for passenger or business use.

What do you think? If you could vote for your favourite or choose the best van of 2012, which one(s) would top the list?
