CAP find a majority of independent used vehicle retailers are low on stock

According to an article from CAP, the car and van information experts, a majority of independent used car retailers are experiencing low stock and struggling to replace sold vehicles. This worrying issue was revealed by research for CAP Black Book Live, the only real-time used car price trending tool in the UK. Of the more than 100 independent dealers asked about their stock levels and if they have had any difficulty in sourcing vehicles to meet demand, a shocking  70% said they were.

What does this mean for motorists? Those who will benefit most are motorists with good part-exchanges to offer, as they will get top prices from independent dealers, who are just as determined to buy retail-quality stock as they are to sell the cars already on the forecourt. CAP says that those who previously believed that they'd be better off by selling their car privately are "behind the times".  That's good news for motorists looking to sell or part ex, but on the other side of the coin, those looking to buy a quality used vehicle at an affordable price are finding it increasingly difficult.
