The perfect Mother's Day gift is a 'Personal Safety on the Road' leaflet from GEM

This Sunday is Mother's Day here in the UK (don't forget the flowers) and what better way to show mum just how much she means to you than to ensure she remains safe whilst out on the roads. Road safety organisation and breakdown cover company GEM Motoring Assist is advising drivers, especially women, on the importance of personal safety on the road. In their recent press release GEM, in association with the Suzy Lamplugh Trust, announced that they have created a campaign leaflet to raise awareness of key safety issues while driving, particularly for women travelling on their own or with children. GEM’s leaflet aims to make women feel more confident and to equip them with tools and information to deal with difficult situations effectively.

For those who may not be familiar with the Suzy Lamplugh Trust, they work to raise awareness of the importance of personal safety. Its mission is to provide solutions that effect change in order to help people avoid violence and aggression and live safer, more confident lives.

The leaflet featuring Konnie Huq on the cover, offers several important tips such as what to do in a breakdown and detailed information on general car maintenance. It also provides integral advice on how to deal with dangerous situations, including a useful emergency checklist of items that motorists should have in their car at all times.

David Williams MBE, CEO of GEM Motoring Assist, comments, “Often more vulnerable in certain instances, mothers and women are at the heart of this campaign and, as we celebrate Mother’s Day, now is a good time as any for all the family to think about personal safety on the roads. We are delighted to be working with the Suzy Lamplugh Trust and to have Konnie Huq’s support in helping to raise awareness of this prominent issue. We hope that it is a step in the right direction in making UK drivers safer on the roads.”

This may seem a simple gift, but for those wives, mothers, sisters, or other female relatives and friends that drive, this could one of the best presents she never thought to ask for. Best of all, it's absolutely free. I have already downloaded my own copy and will be sure to include a printed leaflet to go along with the Mother’s Day cards I’m giving out to my friends and family this weekend.
