Renault Captur launch date and pricing information released

Renault has finally released a launch date and pricing information on their new urban crossover, Captur (pronounced “capture”), one month on from its world debut at the Geneva Motor Show. The Renault Captur is compact, in comparison it is only fractionally longer than the New Clio, but combines the style and driving position of an SUV, the cabin space and versatility of an MPV and the driving experience of a compact hatchback. Phew, it certainly packs in a whole lot in just one B-segment crossover.

To tempt buyers even further, it has a maximum load space of 455 litres, large wheels, generous ground clearance, plus the in-dash Renault R-Link multimedia tablet provides access to a whole new level of connectivity, with an ever-expanding library of dedicated motoring apps. It becomes the third Renault to benefit from the innovative R-Link system (including TomTom satellite navigation, 4x35W Arkamys 3D Sound). For those wanting more; a reversing camera (Dynamique MediaNav and above), City Pack, heated front seats, and metallic paint (including i.d. Arizona and Tahoe Blue ) allowing you to customise your Captur and are part of a wide array of options that are available for additional costs.

Fuel economy and driving pleasure are said to be the common denominators of Captur's 100% turbo engine line-up. Available petrol engines include the Energy TCe 90 (three cylinders and just 898cc) and the brand’s all new TCe 120 EDC (four cylinders, 1,198cc). The latter comes exclusively with EDC transmission (Efficient Dual Clutch) which delivers outstanding driving comfort. When it comes to diesel power, the Energy dCi 90 uses just 76.4 mpg and emits just 95g of CO2 per km*, which are record low figures for Captur’s class. This model will also become available with EDC transmission at a later date.

Captur also benefits from Renault 4+. The comprehensive package includes a four year/100,000 miles warranty; four year/48,000 miles free routine servicing, four years roadside cover and four years finance.

If you are interested in the supermini crossover, UK prices confirmed from £12,495 on-the-road. It will be available to order in the UK from 1st May. At launch, it's offered in a choice of four trim levels: Expression, Expression+, Dynamique MediaNav and Dynamique S MediaNav. Exterior and interior looks are split into three easy-to-understand themes: Arizona, Manhattan and Miami.

I've taken a look at the Captur Magazine feature on Renault's website and I have to say that it does a stunning job of convincing you that this is the car for you. And yes, I am now leaning towards a Captur in the Manhattan theme, please.
