The new Peugeot Partner van, now with 100% electric drive train

If responsible mobility is the direction some businesses are said to be steering their fleets towards, then the influx of new electric vans being released this year is sure to set them on the right track. The latest eco-friendly electric van to go on sale soon here in the UK is the new 100% electric version of the Peugeot Partner van.

The new Partner Electric, due for UK launch on 23rd May 2013, is said to be aimed at all business users wishing to reduce their environmental footprint and fuel expenses and was first presented at the Brussels Motor Show in January.

This van does seem to have very practical features, including the potential for a quieter ride, and doesn't skimp when it comes to the all-important load space either. The load volume is up to 3.3m3 on the L1 with a load length of 1.80m, a payload of up to 636kg and a GVW of 2,225kg. The modular seating is similar to the original Partner which can accommodate three people in the front, plus a retractable side passenger seat allowing an additional 400 litres of load volume, and for those requiring mobile office functions, the folding seat back of the central seat also offers an office table design feature.

Here are some more highlights provided in Peugeot's latest press release detailing this dynamic new Partner Electric van.

Key standard features include:

  • ABS brakes including EBD and EBFD

  • Air conditioning and athermic (glare and temperature reflecting) windscreen

  • Remote central door locking, one-touch electric windows and door mirrors

  • Durable plastic floor covering and left-hand sliding door

  • ESC (Electronic Stability Control) and Hill Assist (hill start aid)

The new Partner Electric combines the features which have already made the Partner a great commercial success and the UK’s best-selling small van.

Its advanced permanent magnet synchronous 49kW electric motor and 22.5kWh lithium ion battery pack gives the Partner Electric the potential for up to 106 miles, as tested on the New European Drive Cycle (NEDC). This, combined with innovative eco-driving control systems, allows the driver to limit energy consumption to a range compatible with the requirements of small van customers, 70%of whom mostly make daily journeys of less than 60 miles. With a top speed of 68mph, it positions the Partner Electric as the benchmark in its segment.

Competitively priced to customers at just £21,300 plus VAT, the Partner Electric qualifies for the 20%Plug in Van Grant which reduces the cost to £16,750.50 including OTR (On-The-Road) costs, excluding VAT.

With running costs of between £1.25 and £2.80 (on average) per 100 miles, depending on the price per kWh, the Partner Electric's fuel bill is unbeatable for business users, whatever the charging mode used. Maintenance costs are also lower than for an internal combustion engine vehicle as there are no oil changes, fewer parts requiring regular servicing and brakes that are used less heavily due to the energy recovery on deceleration.

The Partner Electric combines a group of systems, unheard of in the segment, which assists the driver in adopting an economical style of driving allowing close control of energy consumption and so optimising the range of the vehicle, with complete peace of mind and safety.
