Ford supplies British Gas with all-new Tourneo Custom van for children's charity challenge

It’s always touching to hear when a large corporation gives back and makes a contribution to a charity, especially a children’s charity. This week, Ford UK has proudly announced they are lending their support and have supplied British Gas with an all-new Ford Tourneo Custom that will travel thousands of miles on UK roads this summer, helping to raise £1 million for Great Ormond Street Hospital Children’s Charity.

Building on the success of British Gas “Bikes Britain” in 2012, this year’s British Gas challenge is called, “Swims Britain”.  The event aims to encourage thousands of the energy company’s staff and their families to take part in swimming challenges across the UK.

To help them on this wet and worthy challenge is an aquatic-themed Ford Tourneo Custom with long wheelbase, powered by a Dagenham-built 125PS 2.2-litre TDCi diesel engine. The vehicle is well-equipped for the UK tour, with nine seats, a 230-volt power converter and Ford’s satellite navigation system. And since British Gas recently added 520 new Ford Transit vans onto their fleet, they knew Britain’s best-selling van was more than capable of assisting them with this challenge.

Ford of Britain fleet director, Phil Hollins, said: “This is a fantastic challenge to be associated with and Ford is proud to support the charity’s worthy cause. The provision of an all-new, eye-catching Tourneo Custom to British Gas will hopefully help to raise a significant sum of money for Great Ormond Street.”

Be on the lookout for the British Gas “Swims Britain” van at events scheduled in your area to help raise funds for Great Ormond Street Hospital Children’s Charity.  Plus, as an added bonus, through sponsorship of British Swimming, former Olympic gold medallist Duncan Goodhew and other members of Team GB’s swim team will be on hand to motivate swimmers and lend their support.
