Ford wins the 2014 "International Van of the Year" award with All-new Transit Connect

Just announced today, the All-new Ford Transit Connect has won the “International Van of the Year 2014” award, presented at the COMTRANS commercial vehicle exhibition in Moscow. This win now means that Ford is the first single manufacturer to win the award for two consecutive years. This accolade adds to the previous “international van of the year” wins for Ford, making it a record-equalling achievement.

The new Transit Connect recently joined Ford’s successful Transit range, which includes the Transit Custom and the forthcoming two-tonne Transit and Transit Courier models to be launched in 2014. The Judging panel, which consisted of 24 journalists, awarded the Transit Connect 130 points out of a maximum possible 163; ahead of the Mercedes-Benz Sprinter and Renault Kangoo; praises fuel economy, design, driveability, load-carrying and safety.

“The all-new Transit Connect impressed the jury on a number of fronts, and above all by the fact Ford has succeeded in building a light van with a strong accent on economics – the vehicle is a good answer to the needs of small operators as well as big fleets to reduce the cost of transport of goods,” said Pieter Wieman, chairman of the “International Van of the Year” jury.

It looks like it’s going to be another fantastic award winning year for this van maker and thus adds to the prestige for current and future Ford van owners.  Don’t forget, if you want to be driving along in one of these spacious commercial vehicles, the all-new Transit Connect is available to order now with delivery scheduled for late 2013.
