Ford wins trio of trophies at the 2013 ACFO Awards

What’s been happening in the van world of late? Well, it comes as no surprise to learn that there were more accolades bestowed upon popular van manufacturer, Ford, last week. Ford has won a trio of trophies at the 2013 ACFO Awards. The successful Ford Transit has been voted Large Van of the Year, Ford Transit Connect wins Small Van of the Year, and Ford has claimed the award for Environmental Initiative of the Year for the 1.0-litre, three-cylinder EcoBoost petrol engine.

ACFO (Association of Car Fleet Operators) Ltd is a non-profit making organisation. It is the largest UK body representing the interests of businesses which operate cars and vans as part of their normal commercial activities. They say they are the “voice of the fleet decision-maker”.

The judges were impressed by Ford’s wide range of award-winning products available to fleet customers and voted the Ford Transit Connect the nation’s favourite small van for the 11th time in succession, while the larger Ford Transit retains the top spot for the third consecutive year, and for the 17th time in the history of the awards.

Phil Hollins, Ford of Britain fleet director, said: “Ford’s hat-trick at the ACFO awards is a sensational result! The category wins for both Transit and Transit Connect models and the Environmental Initiative of the Year accolade for the 1.0-litre EcoBoost engine are testament to the development work our highly-skilled UK engineers continue to deliver.”

The 1.0-litre Ford EcoBoost engine, which has won International Engine of the Year 2012 and 2013, is now available in the new Transit Connect van and new Tourneo Connect models.
