‘Hands-on’ motoring fun at Beaulieu this February Half Term

Have you made plans for the upcoming half term in February yet? If you are looking for something fun for the kids and of course, auto related fun for you, then why not visit the National Motor Museum at Beaulieu this February Half Term, 15th – 23rd. The museum’s ‘hands-on’ event is a great way to share your love of motoring and spend a family day out with lots of interactive activities.

The event will offer a rare opportunity to handle and learn about historical motoring objects at special ‘drop-in’ sessions running between 10.30am and 4.30pm daily. Take an up-close look at early motoring clothing, photos and unusual motoring items. Over 250 vehicles, including automotive examples that span from the 1930’s through to the 80’s will be on display. Plus, Jack Tucker’s Garage recreates the sights, sounds and smells of a typical country garage from the 1930s while ‘Wheels’ - a space-age pod ride - is a fascinating voyage through 100 years of motoring. It’s a fantastic opportunity to show the kids that we didn’t get rides to school on the backs of dinosaurs in our day. Although, I would argue my mum’s old Datsun sure felt like it.

If that doesn’t get the kids (or you) all excited, then how about getting your competitive racing hat on and get set to race your friends and family on the giant Scalextric track. Oh yeah, that sounds like my kind of fun. You can even win a prize if you make it to the top of the leader board.

For family motoring fun without breaking the bank, the National Motor Museum has all of the February Half-Term activities included in the standard admission price which includes entry to the National Motor Museum, Palace House and gardens, Beaulieu Abbey plus unlimited rides on the high-level monorail and open-topped replica London Bus.

If you’d like to save even more money, the museum is offering a special Half Price Child Offer through February Half Term in exchange for your support of their world record-breaking attempt. On the 5th May 2014, they will try to smash the Guinness World Record for the longest continuous line of toy cars. They need your help to collect the 10,000 toy cars required, so each child who donates two or more toy cars to the record attempt when purchasing admission tickets, in person, on the day of their visit, will qualify for half price child admission.
