New Citroen Relay Van out now

The new Citroen Relay van, which begins delivery on 01 July, is expected to be priced from £19,405 for the lead-in Relay 30 L1H1 HDi 110 6-speed manual. That price is only slightly higher than the previous model, but will include a host of new features and a wide choice of factory-built variants. The new Relay will sport stylish high-mounted headlights, a striking new grille and chevron design as well as a large, multi-piece front bumper to minimise accident damage and reduce repair costs, and not to mention, the new Relay’s body structure will incorporate multiple-point reinforcements to improve rigidity and durability. Also, the shock absorber mountings have been re-designed and you can expect an improvement in braking performance.

Jeremy Smith, Citroën’s Head of Commercial Vehicles & Business Sector Operations, comments; “New Relay is a compelling choice for businesses. This competitively priced and exceptionally well-equipped range delivers the highest payloads in its sector, along with class-leading load carrying practicality and low cost of operation. With its wide choice of factory-built variants and Citroën’s unique range of Ready to Run specialist bodied models, there is a New Relay to economically and efficiently suit virtually any business transport requirement.”

The new Relay van will entice buyers who are looking for a generous payload, improved fuel efficiency, lower CO2 emissions figures, and the addition of new advanced technology features like; Electronic Stability Control (ESC) and Lane Departure Warning System (LDWS) which uses a camera mounted above the rear-view mirror to recognise whether the driver has drifted across lane markings without indicating.

Citroen has forecast that the two best-sellers would be the Relay 30 L1H1 HDi 110 6-speed manual and the Relay 35 L3H2 HDi 130 6-speed manual, which have payloads of up to 243kg. With deliveries already taking place, we will know soon enough if the new van is as popular as Citroen anticipate.
