"How Low Cost Vans got my business on the road"

Richard White wasn’t having much luck finding a van for his new business.
Despite having nearly twenty years' experience, the sole trader's requests for finance were being turned down on the spot. The only option left was to make do with with a "second-hand banger," a temperamental old thing which did little to fill him with confidence.
But after popping in to Low Cost Vans for a 20 minute chat with Owen Renn, he walked out with his new wheels sorted, and just in the nick of time - within a week of it arriving, his "old banger" finally gave up the ghost and died.
Owen was able to find a lender in minutes thanks to Low Cost Vans' wide panel of lenders and funders, one of the most extensive selections available.
"We tried getting finance, and I went to Ford, but as a sole trader I had no chance," explains Richard of RAW Plant Services.
"The new van has made us more responsive. We can guarantee that we'll turn up now."
His company specialise in "outsourced, mobile, independent plant repair and maintenance service for the construction and plant hire industries," and their services include fault diagnosis, inspection, repairing and servicing items.
With the new van decked out in bright finery from Harris Signs in nearby Llansamlet, RAW Plant Services could finally hit the road, fully confident that they'd be there on time to help their clients.
"After building up the business for two years, I came to Low Cost Vans," he says.
"The new van has made us more responsive. We need it to run around south Wales, or anywhere people want us, to fix diggers and generators. We can guarantee that we'll turn up now. There’s no more coughing and farting when I turn it on!" he laughs.

His clients vary in size, from major employers like the steelworks in Port Talbot, to one-person operations, who rely on Richard to stop things grinding to a halt.
"If you’re a farmer or a builder, you need that support. They might struggle to find someone to do the job, and a lot of people don’t turn up, so you have to be responsive and get to people."
And it's this ability to help everyone, such as the lone farmer whose work might stop otherwise, that makes it all worthwhile.
“People say, ‘is it worth it?’” he says in regards to the ups and downs of being your own boss.
He believes it is: for the freedom.
"I’ve got a business that sustains me, I see loads of different people, and I'm not going to the same places.
"I’ve got freedom."
