The weirdest cars you can get your hands on
There’s plenty of wacky cars out in the world that you could
have the chance to drive. They may not still be produced but there are still
some on the roads that you could be lucky to find. Here’s our list of our
favourite weird cars.
Reliant Robin
Any fans of Only Fools
and Horses will know all about this car (although they actually used a
Reliant Regal Supervan). This three wheeled car was released in 1973 and was
marketed for good fuel economy and low road tax. It was actually a commercial
success, however in 1982 it was replaced by the Rialto model and the company
finally stopped producing cars in 2001.
Peel P50
You might need a fair wad of cash to get your hands on this!
With only 27 left, it’s the smallest car commercially produced in the world and
can just about fit one person in it. It was never really popular- not just
because of its odd design but because it didn’t have a reverse gear. However,
it’s such a wacky and rare car it we can’t help but love it.
Heinkel Kabine
Suspiciously similar to the BMW Isetta, this little car was
surprisingly nifty. A German car, production started in 1956 and ended in 1958
in the country. This one has two seats and four wheels, so it’s probably a
little more convenient than the Peel P50.
1948 Tasco
Tasco is an acronym for The American Sports Car Company –
the people who made this car. It never actually ended up being produced because
the cost to make was too high. This won’t be one you’ll ever get to drive but
if you ever visit Indiana, you can view it at the ACD Automobile Museum.
1932 Ford Speedster
While this may not look like any of the cars on the road
today, it was weirdly designed even for its day. Developed by Henry Ford’s son
and the President of Ford. They wanted to create an American version of the
sports cars they had seen in Europe. It might not be what you’d picture when
you think of a sports car but it was the foundation of other cars they went on
to make.
